How is research time calculated?

Each research's base time is divided by your total research speed bonus and rounded down. Research runs one at a time in the Academy, so the whole plan is the sum of those times.

Does the Research Speed % already include my Academy and hero skills?

Yes. The number on your Governor Profile overview already includes your Academy building, alliance tech, VIP and hero skills, so enter it exactly as shown.

Why does it show prerequisites?

Some research needs another technology finished first, and every level needs a minimum Academy level. Anything your plan already covers is ticked off, so you only chase what is missing.
